This week was a little busier. We are getting ready for the
Republican National Convention next week. For most events a proposal is sent
out to the client summarizing what Botanica wants to do for the event. Many of
the clients have been adding and subtracting the budget, which in turn changes
what Ian and the design team can or can’t do for the event. It’s been great to
see how everyone here deals with those changes. Being able to adjust plans last
minute is definitely a needed skill in this kind of business.
There are a lot of parties that Botanica is doing for the
RNC. One of the parties that I’ve gotten to help with a lot is the Huffington
Post party. The venue for the party is normally night club, and it is going to be transformed into a spa. In order to do that they have been putting new wallpaper up, installing new furniture, and putting in white carpet. It’s really going to look different once its all done.
We have also been getting in various white containers from accent décor for
the party. My job has been to fill them with Styrofoam as they come in to get
them ready for the arrangements and orchid pots to sit in them. Here are some of the containers that we have gotten in:
Another project that I’ve
been helping with is covering large Styrofoam squares with moss. The pieces of
moss squares are going to be used for a mosaic wall in the bar area. Guests
will be able to see the mosaic when they come in the entry way and can also see
it on the opposite side of the bar area. It’ll be great to see all these elements
come together.
In the middle of all the prep work we had a TV crew come to
the studio and interview Ian about the work he was doing for the RNC. I actually
got to be in a little part of the news broadcast so that was a lot of fun! The
news crew recorded us working on some arrangements. Here is a link if to the
broadcast if you want to watch! - http://video.wfla.com/v/61491641/florist-prepares-for-rnc.htm?q=Florist+prepares+for+RNC
As a thank you for coming by the studio Ian had me make some
thank you arrangements for the news crew. And this is what I ended up making:
